The footprint Gambit had found would be a good couple of hours old. However, it was the size that was amazing. It looked to be over two feet in length, with five clawed toes and a depth that gave an impression of immense weight.
The sounds that Gambit and Scott would be hearing would sound like something moving through the underbrush quietly. It wouldn't be until a pair of eyes, reflected by the last beams of sunlight as the sun went over the horizon, would gleam out at them from the nearby bushes.
Logan meanwhile, would go to glance back over to Rogue. "I've decided that you and the others are about ready to relive some of my past experiences. Many years ago I was sent in by the Canadian government to investigate similar disappearances. I've tweeked it a bit.. but short story short.. Kitty, Scott, Jean and your boyfriend are about to go toe to toe with one of the worst foes I've ever encountered."

Gambit saw the eyes and bent low to the ground. He placed his hand on the ground and looked at Scott with eyes the told him to get away fast.
"Im gonna try something a little different to scare this critter out. You should probably run Mon Ami."
Gambit started to charge the ground as fast as he could, increasing the size of the soon to come explosion greatly with every second of contact.
"Yeah, you should run real fast indeed."

Jean had noticed the eyes, it had borderline freaked her out. The eyes were just watching them. She saw Gambit lean down and touch the ground then he mentioned to run. At first she didn't realize why... then she found out. She noticed as he charged the ground with his power.
She took his advice to run if Kitty, Scott, or even Gambit couldn't get far enough she was prepared to use her power to help protect them. |

Gambit stopped charging the ground after he saw everyone was safely away from the blast range and that the eyes were still there. He looked directly into the eyes and smiled.
"Goodbye Mon Ami."
Gambit lifted his hands from the ground and jumped, the explosion shot him upward like a bullet. He kept his hands at his side to help control his momentum. He then flipped over and threw his arms and legs out to slow himself down.
The Explosion was huge, destroying almost ten feet of ground and everything in the area. Gambit fell back into the fire of the explosion, landing on his feet and started to run in the direction the others had. He soon emerged, a little charred from the fire but other then that he was fine.

"Congratulations, you've just earned yourself a lesson in shoot, no shoot," said Logan's voice over the speaker as the smoke cleared, "Tomorrow morning, five AM sharp." Gambit would likely not be happy to find the smoking and charred remains of... some sort of animal.. whatever it was it was far to small to be handing out tracks like the one's he had found. Closer inspection would reveal that it was... well at least looked like some four legged animal around the size of a large dog. Wolf, puma, somebodies pet? Really, nobody could tell.
"I'd recommend next time to try and get a better of idea about what you're going to blow up instead of just handing out explosions," said Logan's voice over the intercom. The fire would illuminate the surrounding forest and the trio would be able to see the shadow of a road somewhere off to the right. "But at least you found a direct way into town," Logan's stated. "Just cost alerting something big and hungry to your presence, so now it knows exactly where you are... and you have not a single clue where it is," came Logan's voice for a final time.

"You know, when I broke in here the last time I did get a look at some of the files the Professor keeps on you guys. You didn't do this discretely either you know. And I can't believe I'm the one saying this but sometimes being sneaky isn't the best way to go."
Gambit brushed the soot from his clothes and tore off some of the burnt sections.
"And for your information, these X-men uniforms don't work for me, at least my old clothes were fire proof."

"Yeah, I guess we move forward. Or we can do the smart thing and split up. We stay within eyesight of each other and move on our own. It's called a delta sweep formation and trust me, it works best for finding your enemies fast."
